Mid-Life Crisis

Last year I turned 50. Many guys reaching this age will purchase something to remind them of (or reinvigorate) their youth. Something fast - sports cars, power boats, fast bikes, etc.

Me, I purchased a couple of mopeds.

Well, today I sold them - a 1978 Honda Express and 1981 Yamaha Yamahopper. They went to a guy not too far from me, who likes to tinker with these things. They were gathering dust here, since we live in the foothills of the Cascades, and there was no way they could make it up the hill with me on it! They were great mailbox rides though.
They were both pretty fun bikes, and I still may have a moped or two in me at some point in time. Maybe one of these:

A red Puch; or

A blue Garelli.

Hey Lance the Blue Garelli looks like something I wouldn't mind owning...looks great...just love it
BTW...life starts at 50...so you're not an old veggie yet...lots of years left and things to do and dreams to dream and live.
God Bless

Thanks Baron for the encouragement!

Good boy. Clean out the dust catchers.

Thanks Conch - this is one part of a cleaning out exercise we're doing throughout the household - selling books that were never read, clothes never worn (or simply no longer fit), bikes no longer ridden.

Hey Lance...once you done cleaning your place , you're welcome to come here and do the same to ours...it really needs to divest itself of a lot of stuff...BTW...like your new aquarium... what happened to the Cat...did he run away after he heard the Camel's story

Remember, you're only as old as you feel. Nice scoots. Stay young.

Ride on,
Torch

Go for the blue Garelli. Just be sure to ride it because a bike not ridden makes me sad.

Baron, thanks. The cat had to be let outside - it had fleas of the cyber sort - malware. So it's been replaced with the google fish tank.

Thanks Torch - that's the great thing about scoots - keeping us all young!

Danny, thanks. I'll need to get the hop up kit to get this up my hill, but the Garelli does look nice!

Those vehicles are seriously unusual and look like a lot of fun. And 50 isn't so bad. The accumulated wisdom you have speaks for something.

Thanks Jim - I'm actually having more fun now at 51. Had the usual responsibilities, to my wife, kids and work (all of which were fun too, in different ways). While they are still there, I've allowed for a bit more "me" time.

Lance, hopefully you got some good use out of your Honda express moped while you owned it. For the Ped's sake, it sounds like it had a good owner. Also, I am sure the future owner will find that there are many parts available if he/she wants to restore it more. Good luck on your future moped ventures!!
