At long last the bad weather we've been having here let up for just one day. Yesterday was pouring, tomorrow we might have snow, but today it is dry. So, after running a couple of errands, I took the bike out for a ride. As you will see below, I've got a new bike - I mentioned in an earlier post that I really liked some of the "alternative" cruiser bikes out there, and I found this bike, a United Motors/
Hyosung 250cc cruiser, in the colors I was looking for. I bought the bike from a retired couple in Southwest WA - it's a 2007 model, with only 150 miles on the odometer. It didn't take me too long to get the hang of clutching and shifting - the balance acquired from riding my Elite really helped. In case you are wondering, I'm keeping the Elite - I'm attached to her, as she was my first, and will continue to ride her.
It was so nice to be able to ride - I've been waiting for this day for weeks, checking the weather daily.I went out for a couple of hours, mainly around the two towns closest to where I live. A pic of the new bike as I was enjoying a cup of joe:
Another one, as the rain clouds start rolling in:
Here in the Northwest, when a riding opportunity is at hand, it must be seized!
Take care.

Hey Lance,
Was wondering where u been bro....!
Congrats on your new ride man...!
She looks gorgeous and it's the way to go man...
I can understand you're attached to your first...ride...but sometime...you gotta let go...! she was only a ride...!
Ride safely man...it's gonna rain tomorrow...!
Thanks - I know what you are saying Baron, so I may change my mind. I can only ride one bike at a time anyway.
That's a nice looking bike, Lance!
Hey Lance...it sure is a nice looking bike man...! and almost no mileage on her...pure Virgin stuff...had only been foreplayed with...not really ridden....lol
John - thanks! BTW, Hyosung has had a 30 year relationship with Suzuki, having made many of their engines.
Baron - thanks, and you're right, she is basically new, but for her being a 2007. I'm more of the inexperienced one in this relationship, however, having to learn the clutch and shift thing. More than one time I forgot to pull the clutch in at a stop - looked like a real pro (haha)!
Lance:
That looks like an awesome bike, nice colours too, and virtually brand NEW. Amazing that someone had it for 2 years and only put 150 miles on it. You scored big time. Must have multi layers of wax on it. Next Bellingham event is on Saturday, April 25th "Dirty Dan Days", the Pi Rally got, more or less, rained out. Perhaps we will get better weather then. In the meantime you've got an excuse to ride, err . . . I mean, time to practice shifting

So, Lance, how do you feel riding the cruiser compared to the scooter? I'm just curious how the ride changes your perspective.
Bob - thanks, and I look forward to getting involved in one of the future rides up north - the April one may not work, due to business commitments, but I want to do a group ride on the Elite soon.
Irondad - thanks. There's a bit more to think about with the 250, because of the shifting (particularly being in the right gear at the right time, i.e., before stops and going into corners) and listening to rpms, which is actually been quite enjoyable. I kind of feel more part of the bike because of that, if you know what I mean. The shifting I got used to pretty quick, so I would say having to learn on a scooter first was a good step.
